Northwest Corridor-Buckhead Express Bus Service

Is there an express bus route in the future for Buckhead and Cobb County? If so, it could alleviate Buckhead’s cut-through traffic from Cobb.

According to Reporter Newspapers, the Atlanta-Region Transit Link Authority may vote in December to include such a route in its official metro regional transit plan. Such a vote would make the route eligible for state and federal funding.  Denise Starling, executive director of Livable Buckhead, announced the plan at a September meeting of the Buckhead CID and said estimated annual operating cost would be $436,000, according to the newspaper.  Over at least 10 years the operating and maintenance costs would be $11.1 million, the newspaper reported.

The end points are indefinite, although there is a tentative plan to have the route run between the Tower Place complex in Buckhead and the Marietta Transfer Center Park-and-Ride on South Marietta Parkway. Buckhead’s business district swells by tens of thousands each weekday as workers pour into office buildings and retail outlets.

We want to hear from you. What are your thoughts on a direct express bus link from Cobb County to Buckhead?
